Business background

Stylist and colour expert, Joanna Maxwell, launched Savvy and Shine to provide a range of hair colour and care products and salon furniture to stylists, salons and barbers in Northern Ireland.  She chose to work with Eva Professional, a Spanish hair colour manufacturer and since becoming their UK distributor, Joanna has supported Eva Professional by training other distributors around the world. Savvy and Shine also provides technical colour training, professional styling course and business coaching for their professional clients. 

In 2017, Joanna opened the Savvy and Shine Training Academy, where she offers technical and theory courses. The business has continued to grow, but Joanna keeps her team small by implementing cloud apps to run the company’s sales, marketing and accounts.

Still, with so much travel, Joanna was struggling to support her team while keeping the business operations running smoothly. Like most business owners, every aspect of Savvy and Shine requires her input. Savvy and Shine uses Quickbooks Online because they can share the data with their local book-keeper who helps Joanna to manage the finances. In the coming year, Joanna plans to do more marketing - on social media and via email - because she recently recruited a manager for the Academy.
